It was BIG. It was massive. It was good. Really good. Great. Bizarre. Happy. Sad. Funny. You can tell an awesome movie if it can make you feel any of these emotions. Trust me. At World's End makes you feel them all. Getting more specific, here's what I thought.
**SPOILERS!**
What I liked:
- Jack is back. He's no longer trying to run away from comical situations. He's back and witty again.
- BARBOSSA! He's the sane one in the sea of madness. He also says my favorite line of the movie. "I'M A LITTLE BUSY AT THE MOMENT!" You'll get it when you see the movie.
- The cool effects. Wow.
- The music. Go Hans Zimmer!
- Captain Teague. Keith Richards was great!
- All the callbacks to TCOTBP. This movie does seem closer in tone to the first one.
- Old characters, like Murtogg, Mullroy, and Groves.
- The wedding. That was absolutely amazing.
- The Brethren Court scene. It had that sense of insane reality to it. It didn't need special effects or epic-ness to make it good.
- A lot more...
What I didn't think fit very well:
- The "multiple Jacks" was funny once, but became kind of strange the second and third time. However, I have to admit the I loved the "half pin barrel hinges" scene. If you've seen The Secret Window you'll know that this is not Johnny Depp's first time playing different versions of himself.
- Giant Calypso. Huh? What was she shouting? I vote that she just should have turned into crabs without getting 30ft tall first.
- Unanswered question: what mark did Jack leave on Beckett?
- That's about it! And it's not like I didn't like these parts, it just didn't seem to fit.
The scene after the credits is not a joke, so make sure to stay! You have to see this movie. in fact, see it more than once, more than twice! If you haven't watched the prequels in a while, make sure to do that, otherwise you will be left in the confusing plot line dust.
