Pirates set to sail past $500m at international box office
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest will cross $500m this weekend as it attempts to rule the international waves for the seventh consecutive weekend.
The adventure sequel has grossed more than $492.1m through Buena Vista International so far and should hold well despite no new openings.
Meanwhile the animated feature Cars still has several major territories to go including China and Italy in the weeks ahead, and stands at $140.9m.
Universal's thriller Miami Vice takes off in France on Aug 16 followed by South Korea two days late. It has amassed more than $20.2m through UIP.
United 93 opens in Australia on 17 and Mexico and Taiwan a day later; it has taken more than $14.3m. The comedy You, Me and Dupree opens in Russia on Aug 17 and is looking to build on its early total of $5.8m, while Paramount's comedy Nacho Libre opens in Spain on Aug 18.
Warner Bros Pictures International launches Superman Returns in Germany on Aug 17 and executives will be expecting a considerable boost to the picture's $155m running total.
Poseidon has taken more than $119.4m, and The Lake House has amassed more than $35.9m, including Roadshow territories.
Sony Pictures Releasing International opens the comedy Click in Mexico on Aug 18 and executives will be looking to build on the $21.8m tally. Monster House stands at $14.1m and The Da Vinci Code has amassed $533.5m.
Fox International top brass will be looking for Garfield: A Tale Of Two Kitties to consolidate its $50m-plus cumulative total this weekend with two major debuts in the offing.
The family sequel has taken $52.4m so far and goes out in Russia on Aug 17 followed by Italy a day later.
Comedy My Super Ex-Girlfriend goes out in South Korea on Aug 17 and opens in Taiwan two days later; it currently stands at $8.3m.
Comedy John Tucker Must Die gets its first big international launch in the UK on Aug 18. Latest figures put The Hills Have Eyes on $24.4m.
