Trailer Analyze
So finally all the Johnny Depp fans and POTC-fans can breathe a sigh of relief… and take in a fresh new breathe of excitement; The trailer for the anticipated sequel of 'Pirates Of The Caribbean - The Curse Of The Black Pearl' finally got released on the internet the 23rd of November 2005! After a lot of speculations about what the second sequel actually was gonna be all about, we can conclude from the trailer that not all speculations were entirely taken out of the blue; We have the "cannibals", Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, and the "depth to be paid" among others.
The trailer starts off with a more spooky version of young Elizabeths (?) voice singing the famous "A Pirates Life For Me" followed by dark pictures of pirates walking in a lead into what seems to be a cave in Isla De Muerta. An "over the top-voice" saying the lines:
"You have a depth to pay, you owe Davy Jones your soul" makes you instantly get hooked as a spooky skeleton (Davy Jones?) makes his way down a stair, creeping you out with his hollowed eyes and what seems to be "crawling" beard! Let the action, the magic and special effects begin!
Captain Jack Sparrow gets the famous "black mark", that we learnt of in "Treasure Island", telling him that his life is in real danger, the line from an 'officer' states that: "Jack Sparrow is a dying breed. Jack must find a place in the New World or perish". So here the continuous adventures about the swaggering pirate (Depp), the brave blacksmith (or was he a pirate?)(Bloom) and the pretty governor's daughter(Knightley) takes off.
Among cannibals on an island, weird spikey creatures that appears out of the ocean, more
ghostly pirates and pirate ships and the Navy, Captain Jack Sparrow must find a way to save his life before it's too late, and he drags along Will Turner and Miss Elizabeth Swann on his adventures.
This movie seems to promise us an "out of the ordinary-pirate adventure", filled with more magic and actionpacked swordfights than the first one!
But off course, one of the ingredients that made the first movie "Pirates Of The Caribbean" such an incredible movie was the mixture of the humour and action, and eventhough this sequel will give us more action, the humour is not gone! Johnny Depp keeps delivering funny faces and 'drunken' moves for his Captain Jack, which gave us most of the giggling and laughs in the first movie, but also Orlando Bloom's character seem to have loosened up a little and have more fun lines to deliver in this sequel,(when he strongly states "Nevermind, Let's go!" after wondering if he shouldn't wait for Jack but changes his mind when he sees him running and screaming like a mad-man in front of some cannibals.)
The amazing action, tropical locations and an exciting new story of this trailer gives us great hopes for "Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest" as the sequel, telling us that perhaps the first movie was more of an introduction and the sequel will take us more in depth with the characters, helping us understand, gasp and be thrilled about their choices, actions and swashbuckling they take us along with.
Hans Zimmer is once again behind the thrilling music as in the first movie, giving us hopes for another great pirate-soundtrack!
Walt Disney Pictures and the amazing Jerry Bruckheimer and Gore Verbinski gives us this adventure "Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest" this summer 2006. 'Long wait' says ye, 'The one who waits for something good…' Says I! And this will no doubt be the eyecandy of this summer!
So get your cutlasses and pistols ready, cause Captain Jack is Back!
Many thanks for writing to: Linda
